Since 2000, Kunsthuis Syb has annually welcomed artists and writers for a research residency, supporting the development of talent and artistic research. The artists, practitioners or collectives are invited to live in the village of Beetsterzwaag and offer time and space to focus on specific development of their practice; away from the urban area and near nature for a period of six weeks. Residents are encouraged to take the next step in their practice without having to produce new work. The outcome of this process may emerge long after the residency ends. Residents are later invited to return during the Triënnale fan Beetstersweach, where selected works are presented to the public in various locations throughout the village.
