On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July 2022, there will be another Art Weekend in Beetsterzwaag, which takes place around the Hoofdstraat. This year’s theme is ‘Open your heart’.
Carmen Schabracq stayed in Kunsthuis SYB in late 2021 where she immersed herself in local histories, folktales, old myths, and sagas of Friesland. She translated the stories into paintings and braided masks. A starting point in her research was her fascination for the devil; an archetype Carmen often works with. During the Arts Weekend Carmen presents her work and will make a live performance of new sculptural masks made of willow twigs.
