Kunsthuis SYB

Kunsthuis SYB started 2023 with the special invitation to programme a performance in a special collaboration with the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden.

As part of the exhibition You used to fly, go everywhere and wake up those who are asleep by Kosovar artist Petrit Halilaj, curated by Judith Spijksma, Kunsthuis SYB invited Selma Selman for a performance titled ‘No Space’. During the performance, the artist of Roma and Bosnian heritage asked questions of belonging, visibility and space within museum collections and visitors.

Selma is currently a resident at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Fine Arts in Transmedia, Visual and Performing Arts. Her work embodies both the struggles in her own life, and those of her community.
